Learn About Bail Bonds Process
Check out our elaborate process for applying for a bail bond:
Arrest: You can apply for a bail bond after getting arrested on a felony or misdemeanor charge
Processing: You'll be taken to your local county jail following the arrest, to be processed. The court will set your bail amount after pairing your alleged offense with the local county bail schedule. If you come across as a trustworthy individual who'll show up for the court proceedings, you could be released on your own recognizance. But in most cases, a cash bail is set
One phone call: At this stage, you are allowed one phone call after you've been processed and the bail is set. You can either contact a family member or your attorney, who can reach out to a bail bonds agency on your behalf; or you could contact a bail bondsman directly
Speak with a bail bondsman: Once you or your family member or attorney has negotiated the terms of the bail bond, an agreement must be signed by the guarantor, along with payment of a small premium. Following this, the agent will post your bail and you'll be released from jail. The entire bail amount will be refunded when you turn up for your court proceedings
